The O'l Rover

 

After a new battery, oil change, cam belt, water pump, faulty sensor, new light bulb, new fob battery, power steering and alternator belt, new disc brakes and pads, new mid- rear exhausted system, some new tires and some minor rust repair, along with a replacement stereo (exchanging one dead technology, a tape player, for another dead technology, a cd player)  I have managed to scrape the old girl back from the clutches of the breakers yard, I had no idea going into this how much work I was actually going to have to undertake, how much time it would take to source all the parts and how much I would owe one very good friend for his time. But finally, today I took the car around for her seal of on road approval and she passed without any problems. I had next to no mechanical knowledge going into this project and coming out the other side I am pleased to report that I now understand a great deal about the way these things lots of people have work.
I recommend to all, so long as you have a friend to point you in the right direction.

Some may not know this, but space actually has a smell! That is right, Astronauts who space walk will tell you that when they return to the ship and remove there helmet, they can smell a 'hot metal' or 'welding fumes' type of smell.
Can there be anyone alive that does not think space is super cool?

Buzz Punch

The images tomorrow will be from the moon, while looking up a few I remembered this great Video of Buzz Aldrin, I think we can all agree the guy deserves it, and more. Imagine someone coming up to you and leering in your face, trying to get you to deny your greatest achievement. I can rant for hours on how obvious it is that man has walked on the moon, but I wont for now... well maybe just one thing, an estimated 400,000 people are said to have worked on the moon project, proud men and women good at there job, not once has anybody involved in the operation even so much as hinted at it being faked. Other scandals have been leaked out when as few as 10 people have known.. people just don't like keeping secrets, its not in our nature.

How To Car Camp.

 

My recent search for a van to turn into a camper has been futile thanks to a lack of ... whats that thing called again... ? oh, that's right, money. So I have started fixing an old car to take up to use on my journey to Scotland, these are some interesting ideas I came across when researching ways to turn a car into a camper. Honestly tho I feel like these are all a little unnecessary, I strangely have no images of my old car camping days, but i would simply push the front seats right back down remove the head rest and pile soft stuff up on the rear seat to make up for the gap. Honestly probably not as comfortable as these, but I managed a few months during the summer in this way. However I feel like that kind of travel is all about being creative and having some fun.

Snookering You tonight.

It may not be everyone's game but if you ever wondered about snooker, the final between Barry Hawkins and John Higgins has to be worth a watch. Very long game, I think the total match lasted around 6 hours but you can watch the first and second half on youtube at your leisure. Some fantastic talent from the two players.
It has been years since I watched a full game of snooker and I am glad to have caught this one yesterday.

I was once sat at the pub, A guy who was half know to me in the small town of Wanaka starts nattering on about how he had been watching youtube documentaries on Flat Earth, he went on to state that he was now fully convinced that the earth was flat, He, thanks to his recent studies in the matter was armed with facts to 'prove' this. I, sat at the pub and caught off guard by the matter had simply no knowledge I could summon to hand to dispute such a claim, so as it was I sat there and watched this guy rant on and on, all the time thinking... I need to go find another table to sit at.

Well.. Tis The season

Seeming as the snow is falling again I had a look through some old photos and found this one of Canada style festival In Banff, sponsored by the 'Silver Bullet' known to most  around the world as Cores Light.. or to my old boss in the liquor store as 'Cores crap' I found that funny, Thought you might to... While on this subject though, I will mention that a 'light beer' seems to be somewhat of a very strange concept, cores light comes in at around 4.2% ABV (Alcohol by Volume) as do a lot of other light beverages, this creates 16% less ABV then a 5% beer ... as opposed to a mid-strength which is around 50% lower, my thought is this... Why bother? who are they aiming the marketing of a 'light-beer' at, its not significantly lower volume to make it a good choice for someone who will later drive, and its not a great choice for someone trying to get bang for there buck, its no healthier than a 5% brew and the taste is, to a large extent, not defined my the amount of alcohol in it, there are also many beers out there who's ABV sits at around 4% and yet do not claim the status of 'light beer' which means this is simply a marketing ploy? And one more thing, any company that spends vast amounts of money on advertising in the Alcohol industry, Generally is not worth buying, Absolute, Jose Cuervo, Budwiser, Fosters and dare I say it Heineken (the worlds no.1 selling beer)  All cheap and tasteless compared to many in the price range but yet hugely popular due to massive amounts of marketing.
Well... I started that as a nice trip down memory lane and I stated off on A rant... Sorry about that.

Snow Day.

Well the snow came to town last night, so I woke up early and found myself a couple of hills. my board was not overly happy with the mix of gravel and concrete base ... but sometimes you just have to have some fun.
